DKVS Uttarakhand

Dhar Kshetriya Vikas Sansthan (DKVS)

Dhar Kshetriya Vikas Sansthan (DKVS) is a registered non-profit organization working for the sustainable development and social upliftment of hill communities, with a strong focus on agriculture-based livelihoods and eco-compliant practices. Established in 2016 and registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, DKVS is rooted in the belief that collaborating with nature is the key to a better and sustainable future.

Uttarakhand’s hill regions face unique challenges—over 90% of cultivable land is rain-fed and mountainous, while nearly 70% of the population depends on agriculture. Traditional farming methods, shrinking landholdings, and limited market access have led to low farm incomes and large-scale rural migration. DKVS was formed to address these challenges by introducing innovative, sustainable, and high-value agricultural solutions tailored for hilly regions.

What We Do

Over the past 8–9 years, DKVS has been actively working to enhance farmers’ incomes through the promotion of aromatic, medicinal, horticultural, and high-value crops, combined with modern agricultural practices and assured market linkages.

We have mobilized, trained, and supported more than 10,000 farmers across Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and Meghalaya. These farmers are successfully cultivating crops such as Lavender, Rosemary, Dandelion, Thyme, Oregano, and Damask Rose over an area of approximately 565 hectares.

  •

Our approach goes beyond cultivation—we provide end-to-end support, including:

  • Training and capacity building

  • Quality planting material

  • On-field technical assistance

  • Processing and value addition

  • Buy-back arrangements to ensure assured income

Our Mission

To empower rural and hill communities by:

  • Increasing per-farmer income through high-value aromatic and medicinal crops

  • Promoting sustainable agriculture alongside traditional farming

  • Reducing rural migration by creating local employment opportunities

  • Equipping farmers with modern agricultural techniques and infrastructure

  • Strengthening market access through value addition and buy-back systems

  • Encouraging rural youth participation in agriculture-based enterprises

Our Vision

To build self-reliant, resilient, and economically sustainable hill communities by promoting climate-resilient agriculture, conserving indigenous biodiversity, and creating long-term livelihood opportunities rooted in nature and science.
